DECODING VIRAL DISEASE

The Lim Lab uncovers how viruses interact with cells, revealing the molecular stories behind infection and disease.

OUR RESEARCH PHILOSOPHY

We believe that meaningful progress arises from a careful balance of mechanistic inquiry and real-world applicability, and we are dedicated to scientific discovery and the human impact of infectious disease by conducting research responsibility and collaboratively, in an environment that is both scientifically exciting and personally fulfilling.
DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES DRIVE INNOVATION
CURIOSITY + DISCUSSION = BREAKTHROUGH
COLLABORATION, NOT COMPETITION
MENTORSHIP IS AN IMPERATIVE, NOT A LUXURY

DECODING VIRAL SUSCEPTIBILITY

The Lim Lab is dedicated to advancing our understanding of viral pathogenesis: why some people are more susceptible than others, and how various conditions influence disease outcomes in humans.

MAJOR RESEARCH AREAS

Our research investigates viral infection across cells, animals, human tissues, and clinical settings. By combining in vivo, ex vivo, and patient-based approaches, including animal models, human tissue explants and organoids, and patient-derived samples, we aim to reveal the genetic, cellular and immunological mechanisms that shape viral pathogenesis and host immune responses.
UNDERSTANDING THE ROLE OF SPECIFIC CELL TRAFFICKING RECEPTORS DURING INFECTION.
EVALUATING HOW PRIOR INFECTIONS AND IMMUNE STATUS IMPACT SUSCEPTIBILITY TO VIRAL INFECTIONS.
IDENTIFYING HOW MATERNAL VIRAL INFECTIONS CAN IMPACT PREGNANCY OUTCOMES.

THE VIRUS INVESTIGATORS

We are a community of scientifically curious peers united by a shared fascination with viruses and the many ways they interact with their hosts.
